Renew Your Mind

This may very well be the hardest thing to do after becoming a born again Christian, but mind renewal is key to having a successful life as a child of God and a person in general.

4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. - Romans 8:4-6

Lifestyle Change

This is a tough one for a lot of people, but it's very important that you change things in your life. Unless you're already used to listening to clean music, being careful not to watch sinful movies and shows, cussing in your talk, etcetera, then you should start making these changes right away. Not easy, I know, but in order to really have a close walk with God, you want to remove certain things from your life as much as you can.

One thing you need to know. The closer your walk with the Lord, the less you will desire the things of this world. When you get strong spiritually, by feeding on God's Word and praying often, you will start to shed the sin from your life like a snake sheds its skin. It's amazing!

Establish A Real Relationship With God

The most important thing in your life is your relationship with God. Never take for granted that the Spirit of God Almighty dwells inside of you! I'm talking spiritually, so don't get confused. You are a spirit, you have a soul (mind, will and emotions) and you have a body. In your spirit is where the Holy Spirit is inside of you, and you can talk to Him. Seriously, you can communicate with God. You may enjoy texting friends and family on your smart phone - well this is even better! You can talk with the Lord at any given moment, day and night. This is a critical aspect of your walk with God. If you're going to grow stronger spiritually and truly live for God, then you absolutely MUST have a powerful, continuous prayer life and relationship with Our Creator.

5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:5-9
